It is hard to find anything that tastes sweeter than fresh honey straight from the honeycomb. God's decrees should be viewed as a sweet and special infusion to our souls. They have the power to do a work that is transformative and satisfying at a very personal and deep level. In 2 Timothy 2, Paul declares that even opponents of the gospel message can be gently instructed and by God's grace respond with a repentant heart. As creatures who routinely stray from God's design and decrees, repentance should be a common occurrence for believers in their walk with Christ. As we read God's word and pray for insight to correctly apply it, the Holy Spirit will often challenge us to repent (have a change of heart and action). To respond in repentance on a regular basis allows us to maintain a pure and healthy relationship with God. I John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." It's like a gardener pruning dead branches from our soul. We are now free to walk without this encumbrance. In this way the decrees of the Lord are indeed always sweet and always desirable.
This Sunday February the 8th.
Please join us at 10:30 AM. My sermon this week is "Sweeter than Honey." We are working our way through the book of 2 Timothy. Our Sunday School begins at 9:30 AM...in the first class we are exploring the Old Testament book of Numbers and we will learn this week that confession and repentance always leads to healing. Impatience leads to faithlessness which leads to judgement. Here's a quote that you will hear again on Sunday. "When we sin we are acting out of a selfish attitude and mindset that assumes our actions will lead us to more happiness than if we were to obey God." In the other class, we are looking at the prophet Daniel and the cost and reward of obedience. Please come early and we can warm you up with a cup of "joe" and a donut at 9:15 AM.
A song you will hear in our worship:

Men's Breakfast Saturday, February 7th 8:30 AM

What are you doing throughout the week to feed your soul? Today's readings were Genesis 39, Job 5, Mark 9 and Romans 9. If you are looking for a different reading plan you might enjoy trying:

Can you fill in the blank from Psalm 19:11? Speaking of God's decrees King David says, By them your servant is warned;
in keeping them there is great ______________.
Blessings to you all,
