Come and join the dance

Good Friday morning to you all. As I shared in my message last week, this God who has richly blessed us with his salvation, desires to give us spiritual riches even above and beyond salvation. Yes, its wonderful that God forgives the believer, but are we able to trust God for even more. “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” the things God has prepared for those who love him— (I Corinthians 2:9).

According to Dr. Tim Keller, from his book, The Reason for God, God has invited us to wonderful and on going adventure with this God who rescued us. Keller likens it to a dance, and I quote, God did not create us to get the cosmic, infinite joy of mutual love and glorification, but to share it. We were made to join in the dance. If we will center our lives on him, serving him not out of self-interest, but just for the sake of who he is, for the sake of his beauty and glory, we will enter the dance and share in the joy and love he lives in... We were made to center our lives upon him, to make the purpose and passion of our lives knowing, serving, delighting and resembling him, (p. 228).

The Westminster Shorter Catechism echoes this thought,"Man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever." Are you enjoying as you should the gifts that come with God's salvation dance? I would submit he's a great leader, and he will direct you to your next dance step. To encourage you and strengthen your faith I would look to read some classic books. Dr. Keller's book, I mentioned above is a great one, as well as another classic, A.W Tozer's book, The Pursuit of God.

Later in the I Corinthians 2 passage, verse 12 tells us why we need the Spirit sent to us from God. What does the Spirit do for us?
