My mom loves her warm coffee, but she drinks it very slowly. She is often saying to me, "That hits the spot!" But after her third or fourth bite of her egg and the same of her toast, the cup is not even a third finished. And guess what she asks, "Can you stick this in the microwave for me?" It's no problem. The microwave is 15 feet from the dining room table! We might repeat the process a couple times during a more leisurely meal, BUT never on a Sunday morning! We are battling to get out the door. How about you?
As I thought about this it struck me, that's why I love to be around the body of Christ. When my spiritual tank is dipping to some lower levels or my passion is cooling off, God will often send just the right type of refreshment I need. And the encouragement usually comes from another brother or sister in Christ. A part of your job description and mine is to build up and encourage one another. "But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called 'Today,'...(Hebrews 3:13)." And another passage in Hebrews 10 says, "24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
I hope you can join us this Sunday for a cup of coffee, but most importantly for a "warm up" of your soul!

We have set a lofty goal to read through the Bible in a year. How about a prayer before you read, "Lord I am here to receive my "daily bread." Today's readings were Exodus 10, Job 28, Luke 13 and I Corinthians 15. If you are looking for a different reading plan, you might enjoy trying:

Do you know the circumstances which caused Jesus to give this rebuke to his disciples? “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you and put up with you?
See ya Sunday,
