calvary update 12/26

Merry Christmas to you one and all!

Here we are the day after Christmas.  I hope you have been able to slow down just a little to reflect on the precious gift that God lavished on us in sending Jesus.  God did not withhold his very best from us, he freely offered his son.  The Son of God not only walked the earth, but he also clothed himself with flesh and blood. God sent us a Messiah who would be well acquainted with the struggle we would face to live out a life of obedience while in this human flesh.  “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin” (Hebrews 4:15).

When we call on Jesus to enter into our struggle to love him more, he knows that our flesh wants to be stroked and coddled and to seek ease and comfort rather than sacrifice or pour out self-less love.  God gave us his best, may we do the same in offering him our whole lives.  Giving him our all is an investment that will never cease to yield rich dividends now and in eternity.
