If the Son sets you free, you will be free in deed. John 8:36.
Freedom, what a wonderful gift we have enjoyed in our country for such a long time! I know you are appreciative of it as well. In reading through the Old Testament, I am amazed at how often the nations around Israel went to war. A short matter of fact comment is made concerning King David. "In the spring, at the time when kings go out to war..." (2 Samuel 11:1). The passage goes on describe the fact that David stayed home and did not accompany his army. This got him into trouble with Bathsheba. But I digress, the point is that war was a common occurrence. Our world is showing the same plight. And as the world struggles so mightily to know peace, the contrast of what Christ offers to people and nations will become so clear. Jesus remember is called the Prince of Peace. Do you sense His peace as you read this today? Jesus declares it to be a totally different kind of peace. John 14:27: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
