³ O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. Psalm 34:3

"O magnify the Lord with me..."

The word magnify (KJV) means to advance, boast, grow(up), increase, lift up, promote, proudly (spoken), Whatever you magnify or exalt in your heart will direct your decisions and shape your daily priorities. If you favor security over risk, a direction that minimizes risk will be the direction you normally take. However, if you know God has asked you to take a risk, even though it makes you uncomfortable, you would pursue that course of action. Why? Because you want to promote his counsel and magnify His wishes over your own personal comfort and security. You want Him to have the first say in your daily decisions. So, in conclusion, a simple way ensure that you put the Lord first is to ask, does this action magnify or diminish the Lord's importance in my life? If it will do the latter, don't do it!

This Sunday in my sermon, we will take another step in unpacking Paul's instructions to Timothy to "fan into flame the gift of God within you..." (2 Timothy 1:6). When we are given a gift one of the ways the giver knows that we have appreciated it, is if we use it. God expects us to cherish our gifts and use them for His glory. I look forward to exploring that with you on Sunday.
